    I love this photograph—this is what a Japanese high school guy looks like, outside a manga. This is what the trains look like, too—this is a local line rather than the bullet train “shinkansen”. The colors are just the way my memories feel—the low saturation of aging industrial materials. The uncrowded spaces of rural Japan, even in cities. Wondering if the boy’s ignoring you because you’re boring, or because he’s shy.
